Groom receives horror phone call on wedding day

Mr Rowley was enjoying his wedding reception at Victoria's Traralgon Railway Reservoir when the hospital called on March 30 with shocking news.

Test results showed that the pain Mr Rowley suspected of being a toothache was a tumour caused by acute myeloid leukemia.

In an instant their lives changed, his wife Jessica Rowley said.

"We had to take him straight in, it was urgent," she said.

Mr Rowley is one week into chemotherapy with a long road ahead, his wife said.

He'll need to have all of his teeth removed and a gum transplant.

With Mr Rowley receiving treatment at the Alfred Hospital his wife travels four hours each day between Melbourne and their home in Churchill, Gippsland.

The family of five is facing an uncertain financial future with medical, travel and living expenses causing stress.

A fundraiser has been established as the family get back on their feet.
