Brisbane powerhouse Payne Haas believes the Broncos have found the right balance when it comes to his minutes on the field and he has no desire to be an NRL 80-minute man. Haas played 68 minutes of the Broncos 43-26 win over Gold Coast at a sold-out CBUS Super Stadium on Saturday. The NSW State of Origin star was among the Broncos' best as they overcame a four-point halftime deficit to run in five tries to two in the second half and move back to the top of the NRL ladder. Haas had 169 running metres from 17 runs, including 47 post-contact metres, and recorded five tackle breaks and two offloads in a typically barnstorming display. The 23-year-old believes Brisbane's coaching staff have struck the right balance with his workload, feeling it's playing a role in his performances. "Yeah, I'm happy. This is probably the least minutes I've played since I've been playing NRL," Haas said. "It's been good for me. I feel pretty fresh. "I don't want to play 80 minutes. I'm still only young. The minutes I'm playing now are perfect." Along with Haas and halfback Adam Reynolds, Brisbane's comeback win was sparked by another electric display from fullback Reece Walsh. The 20-year-old scored a try and had a hand in two others, with Haas saying he wouldn't be surprised if he finds himself lining up against his young teammate when his Blues take on Queensland in this year's State of Origin. "If they give him a shot, yeah, he's playing good footy here," Haas said. "That's all he has to focus on at the moment. "If he gets a call-up, he'll do his job." Australian Associated Press
