There could be no better way of saying farewell to winter and welcoming the start of warmer weather than with a spring ball. Next month Forster Public School P&C will host its first spring ball to not only celebrate the beginning of a new season, but to recognise Forster's only public school. At the same time the hard working group is keen to raise much needed funds to ensure the school continues to provide a service to educating local children. Having been a part of our community since 1870, Forster Public School has played an essential role in educating our children for generations, P&C president, Sarah Wilkinson said. "Funds raised from the event will go towards the replacement of existing playground equipment that has become tired from years of play." The semi-formal event will be held on Saturday, September 14 at the Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club from 6.30pm until 11pm. The ball is an opportunity for past, present and future parents, teachers and community members to dress up in their finest, and enjoy an evening of delicious food and entertainment, Sarah said. Shaking off its surf club look, the venue will be transformed into beautiful spring-like space with ample room for guests to mingle and take in the breathtaking sunset over One Mile Beach with a complimentary welcome beverage. A night of entertainment will begin with professional harpist Hank Meadows, followed by a local acoustic artist before DJ Flav takes over with the beats going late into the night. Caterer Plunge will provide a selection of what promises to be delicious canapes and grazing boards, served across the night, while U Neek Cakes will dish out the dessert table with something to please every sweet tooth. "With such a beautiful backdrop, delicious food and a night jammed packed with entertainment, fun and giveaways, people won't want to miss out." On the night the will be lots of games, raffles and give-aways, so be sure to bring along plenty of spare change, Sarah said. While the evening is strictly for the adults, students have been invited to participate with every class designing and painting a spring themed artwork for auction later in the night.
