Anna Ackroyd and Hannah Gee wanted to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The Muswellbrook residents will be participating in the World’s Greatest Shave for the first time this year.
Ms Ackroyd will travel to Sydney to have her event among family and friends, on March 17.
“[I hope] to raise awareness and funds to assist with the much needed research and support for all those affected by this terrible disease,” she said.
“I am hoping to raise $2000 and have managed $650 so far.
“I think it is a good cause as it gives hope to anyone suffering with this illness.”

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Hannah Gee’s head shave will be at her family home in Muswellbrook, the following day.
Her mother Pam said her daughter had a big heart, and she had wanted to participate in the fundraising event for a few years.
The St Joseph’s High School Aberdeen student prepared a speech to address her peers during assembly this week.
Hannah recently cut off her long hair ahead of the shave, which she will also donate.
She has smashed her previous fundraising target of $250, and is considering increasing her goal.
