Local families, thrillseekers and rev-heads braved the heat on Friday and Saturday to enjoy the Cessnock Show.

Along with rides and amusements, this year’s attractions included horse competitions (including a qualifying event for the Harness Racing NSW Off The Track series for standardbreds), trotters and mini-trotters, go-karts, speedway bike demonstrations both days, and a demolition derby and fireworks on Saturday night.
Other traditional events, such as the handicraft, cooking and schools’ fruit and vegetable competitions, were cancelled due to a lack of volunteers.
