Cessnock West, Greta and Millfield Public School are among the 19 Hunter schools taking part in the NSW Government’s Share Our Space program, which continues after a successful trial over the summer holidays.
The playgrounds will be open from 8am to 6pm, seven days a week, from April 16 to 27.
Security personnel will be at each participating school to monitor activities. Schools’ normal insurance provision apply.
Participating schools will also receive a $5000 grant to help upgrade their facilities for community and school use.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald said the program benefits the schools involved and the wider community.
“This is great news for families in the Hunter as it not only will give parents and children access to more open green space, but also provide them with more options for school holiday activities,” Mr MacDonald said.
